Alick Macheso’s new album receives warm reception from fans

Sungura music icon Alick Macheso has once again captured the hearts of his fans with the release of his latest album, *Kupa Kuturika*. The album, which dropped on Friday, has been met with widespread enthusiasm and excitement from his devoted audience. The album launch took place at the vibrant Alex Sports Club in Harare, where thousands of fans gathered to witness the unveiling of Macheso’s 13th studio effort. Known affectionately as “Baba Shero,” Macheso delivered a captivating performance that blended his classic hits with fresh tracks from the new album, reaffirming his status as the reigning Sungura King.

The event was attended by notable government officials, including Honourable Emily Jesaya, Deputy Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture. Jesaya praised Macheso for his significant role in uniting people through his music. “The role that Macheso plays in bringing people together is undeniable,” she remarked. “As a ministry, we are proud of his works. We will support our artists in every way possible as they help in the preservation of our culture and educate the nation.”

The morning after the launch, ZBC News took to the streets of Harare to gauge public reaction to *Kupa Kuturika*. Fans expressed their approval and anticipation for the new music. One fan commented, “Macheso is always on point. I haven’t listened to all the songs but so far so good.” Another added, “This guy is good, we are happy that finally he has given us new music.” Enthusiastic listeners were eager to hear all the tracks, with one noting, “He is a genius; his lyrics and the message are on point. We are waiting for all the songs now.”

The album *Kupa Kuturika* features six tracks: “Kuverengera,” “Undiregererewo,” “Zvichada Hama,” “Murangarire,” “Kundishaya,” and “Hunhu Hwakashata.” Each track showcases Macheso’s signature sound and lyrical depth, promising to enrich his already esteemed discography.

As Macheso continues to delight his audience with his musical prowess, *Kupa Kuturika* stands as a testament to his enduring influence and dedication to the Sungura genre.
