Mudiwa Hood responds to Twitter backlash following Tiffany Haddish post

Mudiwa Hood

Musician Mudiwa Hood has found himself at the center of controversy on Twitter after posting about actress Tiffany Haddish, only to face criticism from a user who questioned why Haddish was not reciprocating by posting about him.

The exchange began when Mudiwa shared a post about Haddish, noting her success and presence on social media. A Twitter user responded with a jab, saying, “Tisingataure mazita mufesi ndiye ega akungoposta posta musikana haazi kumboposta wani,” which roughly translates to, “Why mention names on social media if she’s not posting you back?”

Mudiwa, not one to shy away from confrontation, replied with a pointed message. He defended his actions by highlighting the disparity between his own status and Haddish’s. “You are very silly. Tiffany has 7 million followers; she is a multimillionaire. What would she want from me? I, on the other hand, am an NRZ and want everything from her—opportunities, networking, and also riding on her fame. I need her, not the other way around,” he wrote.

He continued, emphasizing the nature of celebrity influence. “I am a nobody to her followers but to mine, she is Tiffany Haddish, a superstar actress! That’s why she can get away without posting anything about me. She is justified.”

Mudiwa further criticized the user’s perspective, comparing it to their own less influential social media interactions. “Usaite nungo dzekufungawo iwe… iwewe wakatorwa picture naKapfupi unofunga angakupostawo iwewe zvako…he can’t, uri chiiko iwe compared to him…that’s my point,” he said. This translates to a comparison where he suggests that just as the user cannot expect a post from Kapfupi (a lesser-known figure), similarly, Mudiwa should not expect Haddish to engage with his posts.

This incident sheds light on the dynamics of social media fame and celebrity interactions. Mudiwa Hood’s defense highlights the often unbalanced nature of celebrity endorsement and social media influence, emphasizing that public figures like Tiffany Haddish have the liberty to choose their engagements, while others might see such interactions as a chance to elevate their own profile.
