Trucker crashes into house, injuring two residents

truck

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a truck driver is believed to have fled the scene after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a house in Kilner Park, Tshwane. The incident, which occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on the N1 southbound, resulted in minor injuries to two occupants of the house.

According to Tshwane emergency spokesperson Lindsay Zwelithini Mnguni, the driver was transporting cold drinks when he lost control of the truck, leading to the collision. The two injured occupants, a man and a woman, were treated and transported to hospital by private ambulances. One patient was taken to Montana Hospital, while the other was transported to 1 Military Hospital.

Mnguni reported that despite an extensive search lasting over 12 hours, the truck driver could not be located. The search efforts were complicated by the need to carefully remove the truck’s merchandise and the vehicle itself, which involved breaking through the house’s walls.

“The truck driver is thought to have fled. Fire and rescue stopped the search when they didn’t locate him in the vicinity of the incident,” Mnguni said. The incident has been handed over to the police, who are now investigating the driver’s whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
