Chegutu man axes estranged wife to death

A tragic incident unfolded in Chegutu when a 40-year-old man, identified as Watson Musika, allegedly killed his estranged wife, Shiellah Utete, in a fit of jealousy before taking his own life with cyanide. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the details, stating that Musika attacked Utete, 32, with an axe, inflicting fatal wounds to her neck, shoulder, and head in a bush near Maldon Compound, Chakari.

After the brutal assault, Musika reportedly consumed cyanide and was discovered deceased in his kitchen at home. The ZRP has launched an investigation into the murder, which occurred on July 5, 2024, around 1500 hours.

In a separate incident under investigation, authorities are looking into the suspected murder of a 16-year-old female juvenile whose remains were found in a bush near Gremlin Farm, Karoi, on July 4, 2024. The victim had gone missing on March 18 while en route to school earlier this year.

A fire engulfed a flat in Bongoland, Victoria Falls on Friday evening, damaging one unit in a block of apartments owned by Shearwater Adventures, where employees of the tour operating company reside.

Firefighters arrived shortly after receiving the report, containing the blaze to a single flat. Despite their prompt response, it took over two hours for the firefighters, dispatched by the Victoria Falls City Council with three fire tenders, to fully extinguish the fire. Read More
