Leeroy Sidambe denies assault claims by Mihlali, accuses her of attempted stabbing

Leeroy Sidambe and Mihlali

Leeroy Sidambe has publicly addressed the serious physical assault allegations made against him by his estranged partner, Mihlali Ndamase. The situation gained widespread attention on Sunday when Ndamase shared photos on social media showing visible bruises on her face, which she attributed to Sidambe’s alleged violence.

In a statement released Monday afternoon, Sidambe disputed the claims made by Ndamase and presented his own account of the incident. He expressed frustration over what he perceives as a rapid spread of misinformation and a rush to judgment that has tarnished his reputation.

Sidambe’s statement provided a detailed account of the events leading to Ndamase’s injuries. According to him, on August 4, 2024, Ndamase made 78 phone calls to him, which he did not answer as he was asleep. After her calls went unanswered, Ndamase reportedly went to Sidambe’s home and, upon gaining entry, sought to confront him.

“He attempted to contact me repeatedly, which I did not attend to as I had fallen asleep. She then arrived at my residence and, according to my son, went straight to the kitchen to arm herself with a knife in an attempt to stab me. This was allegedly in response to her belief that I had been unfaithful,” Sidambe recounted.

Sidambe described how Ndamase confronted him in his bedroom while he was asleep. He claimed that she attempted to stab him, prompting him to push her away in self-defense. According to Sidambe, Ndamase’s injuries occurred when she collided with a wall during this altercation. Sidambe’s son then intervened, responding to the commotion and his father’s pleas for help.

In his statement, Sidambe also accused Ndamase of having a history of physical abuse towards him, particularly when she is under the influence of unspecified substances. He did not provide further details about these substances but emphasized that this pattern of behavior was known to him.

Sidambe concluded his statement by expressing regret that Ndamase has chosen to use her platform to make these accusations. He asserted his commitment to cooperating fully with any investigations and sought to clear his name and restore his reputation. As the situation continues to unfold, the public and authorities will await further developments and details from both parties involved.

A Harare magistrate has upheld the remand placement of businessman Mike Chimombe, who is accused of involvement in a fraudulent scheme related to a US$9.2 million street lights tender. The ruling came after Chimombe challenged his remand status, arguing that he had no connection to the case.

The magistrate’s decision highlights reasonable suspicion surrounding Chimombe’s involvement, citing his signature on the allegedly forged documents as a key piece of evidence. The case involves accusations that Chimombe used false documentation to secure a tender awarded by Harare City Council to Juluka Projects and Plant Hire Private Limited and a purported South African company, ENNDO Lighting and Structural.
