Sir Wicknell Chivhayo dismisses fake Instagram messages, vows to clear his name

Sir Wicknell Chivhayo

In recent events, Sir Wicknell Chivhayo, a prominent figure in Zimbabwean business circles, has found himself at the center of controversy after his Instagram account was allegedly hacked. Screenshots purportedly showing private conversations between Chivhayo and several high-profile personalities, including the wives of renowned prophets, have circulated widely on social media, sparking widespread debate and criticism.

Chivhayo, known for his philanthropic endeavors and business ventures, responded vehemently to the leaked conversations. In a statement addressing the allegations, he dismissed the screenshots as “malicious fabrications” orchestrated by criminals who attempted to extort him unsuccessfully. He clarified that the screenshots were generated through fake social media accounts impersonating him, such as “sirwicknellfanpage” and others, which he claims he has previously reported to no avail.

“I disassociate myself from these FAKE screenshots and DISMISS them in their entirety,” Chivhayo stated, emphasizing that he lacks control over these impostor accounts and their content. Expressing deep regret over the impact on individuals affected by the false messages, he apologized to those misrepresented, including Prophet Dr. Edd Branson and Pastor Chari, emphasizing their unwarranted involvement in the controversy.

Chivhayo further asserted his commitment to pursuing legal action against the perpetrators behind the hacking and dissemination of false information. He announced plans to engage international authorities for a forensic investigation into the cyber-criminals responsible, underlining the seriousness of protecting his and others’ reputations from such attacks.

“To those behind this, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND,” Chivhayo declared, vowing not to be deterred from his charitable activities and philanthropy despite the scandal. He firmly believed in the eventual exposure of the baseless accusations, asserting his confidence that truth will prevail.

The unfolding saga has not only drawn attention to issues of cybersecurity and impersonation on social media but has also sparked discussions about the impact of fake news and online defamation in Zimbabwean public life. As the situation continues to develop, Chivhayo’s proactive stance against cybercrime and misinformation stands as a testament to his resolve to clear his name and protect his reputation amidst adversity.
