Ringo Madlingozi resigns from politics, affirms unwavering loyalty to EFF

Ringo Madlingozi

South African musician Ringo Madlingozi has made headlines once again, this time not for his melodies but for his decision to step away from politics. Following an unsuccessful bid to return to parliament under the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) ticket in the recent elections, Ringo has announced his departure from the political arena.

Ringo Madlingozi, known for his soulful voice and impactful lyrics, had aligned himself with the EFF in recent years, performing at numerous party functions and rallies. Alongside other prominent figures like Tshedi Mholo and Eugene Mthethwa, who also joined the EFF ranks, Ringo’s involvement in politics seemed to be a significant shift from his music career.

However, the tide turned after the recent elections where the EFF, despite its efforts, did not manage to expand its support base significantly. This setback spelled the end of Ringo’s political journey as he failed to secure a return to parliament. In response to the outcome, Ringo took to social media to declare his withdrawal from active political engagement.

“I’m no longer active in politics. I will always love my brothers and sisters. My purpose to heal through music will remain. I will die a fighter,” Ringo announced in a statement, reflecting on his decision to refocus on music as his primary passion.

This announcement marks a reversal from previous denials about leaving the EFF, as Ringo had vehemently dismissed earlier reports suggesting his departure from the party. His dedication to the EFF was evident in his public statements, where he defended his allegiance amidst speculation about his future political aspirations.

In contrast, Ringo’s recent decision underscores his renewed commitment to his musical career. Last year, he signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment to reintroduce his extensive catalog on digital streaming platforms, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey.

As Ringo Madlingozi bids farewell to politics, the South African music scene eagerly awaits his return to the stage and the airwaves. With his soul-stirring voice and profound lyrics, Ringo’s decision to focus on music once again promises to resonate deeply with his fans and audiences alike.
