COVID-19 and polio vaccination blitz begins

The Government through the Ministry of Health and Child Care is conducting a mass national COVID-19 vaccination campaign targeting all eligible persons aged 12 years and above.

The mass vaccination campaign for polio and COVID-19 has already begun with people being urged to ensure they are protected.

“This blitz is the second round of the same campaign. We are going around in communities in Harare and we also have mobile teams at bus termini, schools, creches, markets who are carrying out this exercise.

“We have 400 people providing door to door services, vaccinating children under the age of five including the newly born. Children who got vaccinated for polio during the first round of the blitz in October, should also come for their second doses,” said Philomina Chitando, City of Harare’s head of Nursing Services.

The COVID-19 and polio vaccination campaign is meant to strengthen preventative measures against the two diseases.

The blitz is being done across the country.
