Popular Zimdancehall artist Silent Killer arrested on fraud charges

Silent Killer

Viral Zimdancehall artist Silent Killer, real name Jimmy Mudereri, has been taken into police custody on fraud charges. Silent Killer is currently held at ZRP Matapi after being arrested. The artist, known for hits like “Zvichitobhowa,” is set to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Seh Wish Entertainment hired Silent Killer to perform and headline the Mambodo Birthday Bash on 22 June 2024. They agreed on a fee of US$500, with an advance payment of US$250 made to him. The remainder was to be paid on the event day. Despite sending Silent Killer the event flyer for promotion on his social media, Seh Wish Entertainment discovered he had not promoted the event as agreed.

On the event day, Silent Killer did not show up to perform, leaving disappointed fans who had come to see him. Efforts to contact him were ignored, until days later when he responded rudely to the promoter. In a recorded conversation, Seh Wish Entertainment demanded repayment of the advance, but Silent Killer was disrespectful and refused to cooperate. He dismissed the idea of involving the police.

Following negotiations where Silent Killer promised to repay the US$250 but failed to do so, ZRP Matapi intervened. Despite initially refusing to cooperate, Silent Killer was apprehended by police on Saturday, 13 July. According to police sources, Silent Killer remains in custody pending his court appearance, facing charges related to fraud.
