Tito Jackson, iconic member of the Jackson 5 dies at 70

Tito Jackson, a beloved original member of the Jackson 5 and older brother of the late Michael Jackson, has passed away at the age of 70, according to reports from U.S. media. The official cause of death has yet to be determined. Tito was part of the legendary group that included his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, who tragically died in 2009. The Jackson 5, formed in 1964, became a musical phenomenon, known for hits like “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I Want You Back.” The group sold over 150 million records worldwide, solidifying their place in music history.

Tito was reportedly in Munich for a performance with the group prior to his death. Steve Manning, a long-time friend of the Jackson family and former manager, confirmed Tito’s passing to Entertainment Tonight.

The news was shared via an emotional Instagram post by Tito’s three sons—Taj, Taryll, and TJ Jackson—who formed their own R&B/pop trio, 3T, in the 1990s. They expressed their heartbreak, stating, “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.” They added, “He will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you, Pops.”

The Jackson 5 received numerous accolades throughout their career, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980 and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Tito played a vital role in the group, contributing guitar skills and backing vocals that helped define their sound. As fans and family mourn the loss of Tito Jackson, his legacy as a musical pioneer and a loving father will continue to resonate.

This cool spell is expected to last through the weekend, with temperatures potentially plummeting to as low as 13 degrees Celsius.

In some areas, particularly elevated regions, temperatures could dip even lower, reaching extremes between -5 and -10 degrees Celsius. The MSD attributes this chilly shift to a cool and moist south-easterly airflow moving into Zimbabwe on Friday, September 20, and Saturday, September 21. Read More
