Zimdancehall sensation Nyasha Reginald Mano, widely known as Ras Pompy, has firmly addressed and denied recent allegations claiming he had an affair with the mother of his friend, Wesley Shoniwa. The musician’s lawyer, Dumisani Mthombeni, issued a strong rebuttal to the accusations, which have been circulating on social media.
In a statement posted on Ras Pompy’s Instagram account, Mthombeni clarified that the artist has no romantic involvement with Shoniwa’s mother. “Our client is 23 years old and does not befriend youngsters like Wesley. Ras Pompy has never been in a romantic relationship with Wesley Shoniwa’s mother, as was published and alleged. The two have never been, and are not, in any love relationship. Shoniwa’s mother works with Ras Pompy’s mother, and he considers her a mother figure,” the statement read.
Mthombeni detailed the fallout Ras Pompy has experienced as a result of the false claims, including significant damage to his reputation. “Ras Pompy has become a subject of public ridicule and bad jokes on social media. The false and defamatory allegations have spread widely, causing considerable distress to his wife, in-laws, relatives, and associates. He has had to explain himself to family members and stakeholders in the music industry, as well as address concerns from business associates and friends.”
The lawyer also revealed that Ras Pompy’s professional life has suffered due to the allegations. “Ras Pompy has lost an endorsement deal and other business opportunities that were in the negotiation stage before these defamatory claims emerged,” Mthombeni added. The statement underscores Ras Pompy’s denial of the accusations and his commitment to clearing his name, while highlighting the personal and professional repercussions of the controversy. The artist’s team has called for a cessation of the spread of false information and has expressed hope for the restoration of Ras Pompy’s reputation.
