The construction of a temporary traders’ market at Mbare Musika in Harare is advancing swiftly, with 82% of the work completed. The market, designed to accommodate 5,000 vendors, is set to open on February 1, providing a secure trading space while a modern three-storey marketplace is being built.
During a Harare Provincial Media tour of the site, Masimba Holdings Chief Executive, Mr Fungai Matahwa, provided updates on the project’s progress.
“We are currently at 82 per cent completion. The market will be ready by the third week, and traders will officially begin operations here on February 1,” said Mr Matahwa.

This temporary facility is part of the Government’s broader plan to modernize Mbare Musika, aligning with its Vision 2030 goals of sustainable infrastructure development.
