MJ Maponya, a fitness enthusiast and reality TV star, has taken a significant step in his relationship with Ipeleng Segolodi, 31, from Botswana, after just six months of knowing each other. Maponya proposed to Segolodi during a heartfelt birthday celebration held at the luxurious Saxon Hotel, where they had their first date.
“I knew from the second month I wanted her to be my wife and I decided to propose on her birthday as a gift and to appreciate her love, care, and respect for me,” Maponya shared with TshisaLIVE.
Maponya, 31, who gained recognition from his appearance on Temptation Island South Africa season one, reflected on their meeting, describing how he came across Segolodi’s Instagram profile and initiated contact.
“I was single and looking for a wife, not just a girlfriend, so when I saw her profile on Instagram, I was intrigued and messaged her to find out more about her and when she would be in the country. After our first meeting, I asked her to be my girlfriend. Despite the slight distance, we made it work, seeing each other every three weeks,” Maponya explained.
He emphasized the purity of their love and the certainty he felt in choosing Segolodi as his partner. “Once you find the right woman as a man, you know it’s the right one, and you don’t hesitate. I was drawn to her personality and the way she carries herself.”
Currently, Maponya and Segolodi are discussing plans, including the possibility of her relocating to South Africa after finalizing negotiations. “The wedding is planned for next year, so I want to take my time as I also have a career in South Africa,” Maponya added.
