Zim Hip Hop Star Saintfloew Reportedly Unable to Speak After Hospitalisation for Fever

HARARE — Zimbabwean hip hop star Saintfloew, real name Tawanda Mambo, has been admitted to hospital after complaining of a fever following a recent performance, his mentor and businessman Tinashe Mutarisi confirmed.

Mutarisi, founder of Nash Paints and a close friend of the musician, revealed that Saintfloew had fallen ill shortly after performing at Gwanzura Stadium, one of Harare’s iconic music venues. Concerned for his protégé’s wellbeing, Mutarisi disclosed details in a statement shared with the public.

“After his performance, I spoke to Saintfloew, and he mentioned battling a strange fever,” Mutarisi said. “I told him to call me the following day so we could visit a hospital together. But Saint being Saint, he never called. I assumed he had recovered.”

The situation took a serious turn when Saintfloew’s wife, known publicly as Mai Santa, sent Mutarisi a message informing him that her husband had been rushed to Corporate 24 Hospital in Harare. According to Mutarisi, Saintfloew was admitted with worsening symptoms and was unable to speak at the time.

“Mai Santa texted me to let me know that Saint has been admitted at Corporate 24 Hospital. He’s not feeling well and is currently unable to speak,” Mutarisi said. “Though I’m currently out of the country, I’m comforted knowing he’s in good hands with Bev by his side and under the care of a great medical team at Corporate 24.”

Doctors at the hospital have reportedly begun a series of diagnostic tests to determine the cause of the fever and Saintfloew’s symptoms. Mutarisi stressed that no conclusive diagnosis had yet been made.

“At this stage, doctors are running the necessary tests. We’re all waiting for results to better understand what’s happening so that the appropriate treatment can be given,” he said.

The hip hop star’s sudden illness has raised concern among fans and the music community, with many taking to social media to send messages of support. Hashtags such as #PrayForSaintfloew and #GetWellSoonSaintfloew have been trending on platforms including X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, reflecting the depth of affection fans hold for the artist.

Saintfloew, known for his energetic performances and heartfelt lyrics, has built a reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s prominent hip hop figures. His recent appearance at Gwanzura Stadium was one of several high-profile events in his career, drawing crowds and acclaim. However, the concert now stands out for a different reason — as the last public performance before his sudden hospitalization.

Fans who attended the event noted that the artist appeared visibly fatigued after his set, with some speculating that his illness may have developed during or immediately after the performance. Others expressed concern that Saintfloew might have been pushing himself too hard, given the demanding schedule of his musical career.

Mutarisi described Saintfloew’s condition as a matter of urgency and emphasised the importance of rest and medical care. “Right now, Saint needs peace, rest, and the best possible medical attention. That’s all we can do — support him and pray for his recovery,” he said.

The Nash Paints founder also expressed gratitude to those who have reached out with words of encouragement and support for Saintfloew and his family. “I appreciate everyone who has been checking in on Saint. The outpouring of love and concern has been overwhelming. It shows how much he is valued not only as an artist but as a human being.”

Saintfloew’s wife, Mai Santa, has been at his bedside since his admission, offering emotional support and working closely with medical staff. Mutarisi reassured fans that she was doing everything possible to ensure her husband’s comfort during this challenging period.

The artist’s hospitalization has prompted reflections within the Zimbabwean music community about the physical demands artists face. Many peers have expressed concern about the pressures of constant performances, travel, and public appearances, calling for greater awareness of health and wellbeing in the entertainment industry.

“As artists, we pour our hearts into entertaining the people, but we must remember that our health comes first,” said one fellow musician. “We must encourage one another to slow down when necessary and listen to our bodies.”

For now, Saintfloew’s fans are rallying behind him, offering prayers, messages, and support through his recovery process. Whether in the hospital room or on social media, the shared sentiment is clear: they want to see Saintfloew back on stage and in good health.

Mutarisi closed his statement with a heartfelt note to supporters: “Let’s all stand together and pray for Saintfloew. His music has touched so many lives, and now it’s time for us to return that love and support. We trust the medical team, and we believe he will come back stronger.”

As Saintfloew remains under observation at Corporate 24, both the music industry and his fans watch closely, hoping for positive news and a swift recovery for one of Zimbabwe’s beloved hip hop icons.
