Police Offer Reward as Manhunt for Murder Suspect Intensifies

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with a shocking double murder in Mashonaland Central province, as investigators intensify efforts to bring those responsible to justice.

In a statement released this week, police said they are seeking the whereabouts of Anymore Zvitsva (32), who is suspected of murdering a 55-year-old woman and a six-month-old infant in Guruve. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community and beyond, with many expressing disbelief and outrage over the brutal nature of the killings.

According to the ZRP, the bodies of the two victims were discovered on 18 December 2025 at Farm 88 in Nyakapupu, Guruve. Police said preliminary investigations revealed that both victims had sustained multiple head injuries. Detectives are continuing with investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive behind the alleged crime.

Police Announce Reward to Aid Capture of Murder Suspect

In a bid to accelerate the manhunt, the police have offered what they described as a “substantial monetary reward” to any member of the public who provides credible information that leads directly to the suspect’s location and arrest. The reward, the ZRP said, has been authorised by the Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing to members of the public for information that may assist in the arrest of the suspect,” the statement said. “A substantial monetary reward will be paid to anyone who provides information that leads to the successful apprehension of the suspect.”

Police believe that public cooperation will be crucial in resolving the case swiftly, particularly as the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities have urged anyone with knowledge of Zvitsva’s movements, associates, or possible hideouts to come forward without fear, assuring the public that all information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

Members of the public with information have been encouraged to contact the National Complaints Desk, communicate with the police through official WhatsApp channels, or report directly to the Officer Commanding Guruve Police District. Alternatively, information can be passed on at any nearest police station across the country.

“The cooperation of the public is vital in cases of this nature,” police said. “We urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to assist the police so that justice can be served.”

The ZRP said further details surrounding the case would be released in due course as investigations progress and as detectives continue to pursue leads related to the suspect. Police have not disclosed whether Zvitsva is believed to be armed or whether there are indications that he may have fled the area, citing the need to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations.

The killings have deeply unsettled residents of Guruve and surrounding areas, with community members describing the incident as both tragic and terrifying. Local leaders and residents have called for swift action, saying the deaths of a woman and an infant have left a lasting scar on the community.

“This is something that has shaken everyone,” said a local resident who declined to be named. “We are hoping the police will catch the person responsible as soon as possible so that the families can find some closure.”

The case has also reignited broader discussions about violent crime and community safety, particularly in rural areas. Police officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and have appealed for calm as investigations continue.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police assures the nation that no stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of justice,” the statement said. “Those responsible for such heinous crimes will be brought before the courts.”

As the manhunt continues, police have urged members of the public not to attempt to confront the suspect themselves, but instead to immediately alert law enforcement if they come across any information that could assist in his arrest.

The ZRP has once again emphasised that community cooperation remains one of the most effective tools in fighting crime, particularly in serious cases such as this one. For now, the focus remains on locating the suspect and ensuring that justice is delivered for the victims and their grieving families.
