DJ Maranatha’s Viral Music Video Celebrates Nyabane Clinic Opening

Renowned for using music as a tool for community mobilisation and celebration, Dj Maranatha has released a vibrant Afro Pop song and music video to mark the upcoming official opening of Nyabane Clinic in Matabeleland South’s Bulilima District. The project has drawn widespread praise for blending art, gratitude and development into a powerful narrative that honours collective effort and resilience.

Titled Emtholwampilo, the upbeat track serves as both a celebration and a heartfelt tribute to the many individuals, institutions and communities that came together to turn the long-anticipated clinic into reality. Through energetic rhythms and uplifting lyrics, Dj Maranatha thanks the local community for its unity and teamwork, emphasising that the clinic stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when people work together toward a shared goal.

Central to the song’s message is appreciation for Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who donated a complete solar power system to the clinic, ensuring reliable and sustainable energy for health services in the area. Dj Maranatha also acknowledges the crucial role played by Zimbabweans in the diaspora, particularly those based in South Africa and Botswana, whose financial and material support helped bridge funding gaps and accelerate construction.

The accompanying music video adds emotional depth to the project by featuring real footage documenting the clinic’s journey from its groundbreaking phase to completion. Viewers are taken through each stage of development, offering an authentic and visually compelling account of how Nyabane Clinic came to life. This realistic portrayal has resonated strongly with audiences, many of whom see their own contributions and sacrifices reflected on screen.

One of the most moving moments in the video features Mrs Sithabile Mlotshwa, wife of the late Ward 1 councillor, Cde Tony Mlotshwa. She is seen proudly showcasing key donations, including staff cottages and a maternity ward, underscoring the personal stories behind the development.

“My husband requested for this donation from the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day a long time back,” Mrs Mlotshwa explains. “After his passing, I continued to follow up so that I could fulfil my husband’s dream.” Her determination ensured that the vision her late husband championed became a lasting legacy for the community.

Nyabane Clinic is scheduled to be officially opened on 19 December 2025, with Vice President Mohadi expected to officiate as the guest of honour. Other dignitaries anticipated at the event include Deputy Minister of ICT and Bulilima legislator Hon Dingumuzi Phuti, among several local leaders and stakeholders. A separate celebration party, organised by members of the diaspora, is planned for 27 December 2025 to further mark the milestone.

Dj Maranatha has also extended gratitude to additional contributors who played key roles in the project’s success. He singled out the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndhlovu, for donating roof trusses, as well as neighbouring communities from Tshankwa and Diba. Traditional leadership also featured prominently, with appreciation directed to Village Head Mahlamvana from across the Tshankwa River for mobilising local support.

“I would like to thank all external contributors and our neighbouring communities who stood with us from the beginning,” said Dj Maranatha. “This clinic belongs to everyone who believed in the vision and contributed in whatever way they could.”

Dj Maranatha’s unique approach to development-driven music has steadily gained recognition across the region. In 2022, he attracted attention with Salulandela, a song celebrating the completion of the Nunu Dam wall, which had remained broken for more than a decade. That project demonstrated how music can be used not only to entertain, but also to unite communities around shared achievements.

His work has since inspired other artists to follow a similar path. The Kalanga Gospel Choir recently released a celebratory gospel song to mark the opening of Ngwanyana Clinic, which was officially opened in November this year. Together, these initiatives highlight a growing movement in which music plays an active role in promoting community development, pride and social cohesion.

With Emtholwampilo, Dj Maranatha once again reinforces the power of music as a unifying force—one capable of telling community stories, honouring collective effort, and celebrating progress in a way that words alone often cannot.
